Hello CCE Teaching Assistants,

As a teaching assistant in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, we want to ensure that you are aware of related Student Conduct policies<https://catalog.purdue.edu/content.php?catoid=17&navoid=21802>. It is your responsibility to be aware of these policies and follow them.

Here are some selected excerpts:

Amorous Relationships:
"While amorous relationships can form at the University between faculty, staff, and students, they can affect the power dynamics at the institution and disrupt the educational and work environments. For more information and responsibilities on this policy, see the Amorous Relationships policy<https://www.purdue.edu/policies/ethics/iiia1.html> section of the University Policy Office website. The policy means that you are not to date students or a person you supervise, specifically while you are in a supervisory role for the student or subordinate." The RCR (Responsible Conduct of Research) session during CE 691 - CE Graduate Orientation Seminar also addressed this policy. Please refer to the discussion during that session.

Regulations Governing Student Conduct and Disciplinary Proceedings and Appeals:
"Students are expected and required to abide by the laws of the state of Indiana and of the United States and the rules and regulations of Purdue University, to conduct their academic and scholarly pursuits with the highest levels of ethical and honest behavior, to conduct themselves in accordance with accepted standards of social behavior, to respect the rights of others, and to refrain from any conduct that tends to obstruct the work of the University or to be injurious to the welfare of the University. A student who violates these general standards of conduct may be subject to informal actions or disciplinary actions."

Statement of Integrity and Code of Conduct:
"To fulfill our goals as a learning community, we insist that the objectives of student learning are not compromised. We treat all students equitably, and our evaluations of learning achievements are impartial based on demonstrated academic performance. As students, we understand that learning is the most important goal and we embrace ethical values and principles and reject academic dishonesty in all our learning endeavors."

The Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering requires that all graduate students complete the Graduate Student EA/EO Harassment and Discrimination Training: Prevention and Response. This training is designed to provide graduate students with a foundation in the areas of equal access and equal opportunity.
