Hello CCE Faculty,

I just wanted to send a quick reminder about the December graduation deadlines.  You can find the full list of deadlines at: https://engineering.purdue.edu/CCE/Academics/Graduate/Current/Candidates/Dec2024.

November 25, 2024 is the defense deadline (the form 8 - requesting the defense date, must be in by November 4, 2024)
November 29, 2024 is the deadline to have the Form 9 (Thesis acceptance form) signed so that the student can deposit by December 3, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

Please encourage your students to get their defense scheduled as soon as possible.  You can tell by the deadlines above that there isn't much time between the defense deadline and the deposit deadline.  If you have a student on the candidate list that won't meet these deadlines, please let me know as soon as possible so we can remove them.

Also, keep in mind that the defense and deposit approval are two separate actions.  You can (and should) approve the defense approval form (Form 7 or 11) if the student passes their defense.  Then approve the form 9 once the written document is approved.  Both have to happen for the degree to be awarded - the student will not get their degree if just the defense approval has been given, but not the thesis/dissertation approval.
