Forwarded on behalf of Dr. Brian Harley, Associate Dean, International Programs:

This is a reminder about limited funding available for "International Research Internship Travel Grants." For graduate students (and advanced undergraduates) who are pursuing a research internship overseas, the Study Abroad Office makes a limited number of travel grants available. Up to $500 per student is available as a reimbursement for unpaid expenses.

The process is simple. Students and their advisor need not necessarily re-create anything (i.e. project description) if they wish to attach related documentation. If all parties agree and the form is filled out to completion, then students will receive up to $500 reimbursement. Student recipients will later be issued an award letter with instructions about pursuing this reimbursement (for expenses not covered by Purdue or the host institution).

Our website has a section about Overseas Research Internships<http://www.studyabroad.purdue.edu/faculty/ResearchInternship.cfm> and the reader will note (mid-way down) a one-page Overseas Research Internship Student Enrollment Form<http://www.studyabroad.purdue.edu/resource/OverseasResearchInternshipsForm.pdf> which students submit at least one month in advance of departure.

Note that none of the above is meant to replace expectations communicated by the Graduate School or other Purdue units. This is simply a way that we are helping graduate students for their self-funded overseas research endeavors.

Please relay this information to interested colleagues and urge them to contact me if they have further questions.

Thanks,
Brian
