You may have seen the recent announcement for the NSF Science and Technology Centers (see blow; internal deadline for Purdue selection is September 3rd). If you are considering to lead a center or if you want to start small group discussions for a potential STC topic, please let me know if there is anything we could do to help.

Dear Faculty Members:

NSF has released a new solicitation for the Science and Technology Centers: Integrative Partnerships program. This program supports innovative, potentially transformative, complex research and education projects that require large-scale, long-term awards. STCs conduct world-class research through partnerships among academic institutions, national laboratories, industrial organizations, and/or other public/private entities, and via international collaborations, as appropriate. STCs may involve any areas of science and engineering that NSF supports.

Centers must undertake activities that facilitate knowledge transfer, i.e., the exchange of scientific and technical information with the objective of disseminating and utilizing knowledge broadly in multiple sectors. Examples of knowledge transfer include technology transfer with the intention of supporting innovation, providing key information to public policy makers, or dissemination of knowledge from one field of science to another. For this opportunity, Purdue may submit three proposals as lead.

Internal deadlines are as follows:

Wednesday, September 3:  Pre-proposals due to the EVPRP (see attached template)

Agency deadlines:  December 11 - Preliminary proposals; June 16 - Full proposals (by invite).
