Brick Nanotechnology Center PM Closure Notice = This Week October 18-October 22, 2021
The Birck Nanotechnology Center will be undergoing a semi-annual preventive maintenance and service shutdown
October 18 through October 22, 2021. Air handling systems, exhaust systems, toxic gas delivery, and monitoring systems will be down beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, October 18 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 22. The BNC staff will be performing appropriate preventive maintenance on the process equipment at this time as well.
All CLEANROOM research work will be suspended until the maintenance activities are completed and all systems are returned to normal. Only authorized personnel will be allowed to enter the cleanroom during this time period.
In addition, the laboratory areas will also be affected by this systems maintenance. As such, all LABORATORY activities that involve exhausted hoods, biological safety cabinets, vacuum systems, and/or toxic gas systems will be down beginning 7 a.m. Monday, October 18 through 4 p.m. Friday, October 22. However, work that involves taking standard electrical measurements may be carried out in the LABS provided that fluctuating air temperature and humidity do not affect the readings. No chemical or biological work will be allowed during this period.
It is anticipated that the building and process tool maintenance will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, October 22. Please check iLabs for equipment status and availability.

Birck has purchased one of the OWL Intelligent Video Conferencing Device.
It can be reserved for your meetings by emailing Brenda Meador meador3 at purdue.edu<mailto:meador3 at purdue.edu> or Nancy Black blackn at purdue.edu<mailto:blackn at purdue.edu>
This will be a shared system so please be considerate and return to Brenda when your meeting is completed.

The Meeting Owl is the first 360° smart video conferencing camera. The Meeting Owl video conferencing camera dynamically captures 360° video and superior audio for a near face-to-face experience engineered for plug & play simplicity.

2021 Birck Nanotechnology Center Research Image Contest Sponsored by NSAC and Birck leadership - $600 in prize awards for student entries
Please share your research images which showcase the beauty you've observed around you at Birck! All members of the Birck community - students, staff, and faculty - are welcome to submit their images that can include not only research images but also photos of life here at Birck. For research images, we ask that you also write a short paragraph explaining what we are looking at and why it is significant to you.
We will assemble a panel of judges and announce awards at the BNC Holiday Party in December, and student entries are eligible to win:
$300 for 1st place $200 for 2nd place $100 for 3rd place
You can submit multiple images anytime between now and November 30, 2021 to a new MS Teams channel we have set up for the image contest, see link below:
