Characterization & Measurements Methods

A user suggested we create a database of available characterization and measurement methods & tools. This is an excellent idea, and should also be applied to other sorts of processing tools. We have two changes coming very soon that may provide this information: 1) our new iLabs scheduling tool is scheduled to be deployed in December and January; and 2) a new Birck website will be launched prior to Thanksgiving. Please look at these two enhancements in our operation, and give us feedback about this suggestion. Another longer-term project is creating a Birck Wiki, but this will be later in 2017.

CTSI-Purdue Retreat
This message is being sent on behalf of Dr. Thomas Sors, Chief Scientific Liaison, Bindley Bioscience Center, Purdue University

The Indiana CTSI-Purdue Retreat is being held at Purdue on Tuesday, December 13 in the Discovery Learning Research Center. We have a very exciting program featuring new investments in the life sciences at Purdue and Notre Dame, with presentations by Donna Fekete, Richard Kuhn and Paul Bohn. We will also highlight cancer prevention research at Purdue, the Indiana University School of Medicine and at IU-Bloomington with speakers Jim Fleet, Roberto Pili and James Klaunig. Afternoon breakout sessions have been organized into highly interactive meetings that are geared to maximize investigator connections to stimulate collaborations.

Please see the attached agenda for further details and forward this invitation to other colleagues that may be interested in participating. If you plan to attend, please register by Friday, December 2 at the following link http://j.mp/2d5xGuW.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Purchasing
Reminder - You MUST use the attached from when making a credit card purchase (i.e. Amazon). All orders (ariba or credit card) MUST have an explanation of how the purchase benefits the project.

Reminder About Lab Glove Policy

Users have been observed touching door handles and other 'community' surfaces with gloves on. Please remember our 'one glove' rule that states to never touch door handles or phones in labs with a gloved hand because the surface may become contaminated with some dangerous material that could be on the glove. Rather take your glove off to answer phones and touch door handles with your bare hand to eliminate this possibility. Thanks for your cooperation in making Birck as safe as possible.
