*UNIVERSITY HOLIDAY: *Monday, 01.18.10.





The *mandatory* All-User Meetings for the Birck Nanotechnology Center will
be held on *Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 5:30 PM* and *Thursday, January
21, 2010 at 5:30 PM *in *MTHW 210*.

Matthews Hall is located on the northeast corner of State and University
Streets, about four blocks east of the Birck Nanotechnology Center.

The meetings should last approximately 90 minutes.

Please note that attendance at one of these meetings is mandatory for all
people who work in the BNC laboratories and/or cleanroom.  Those who have
offices in the BNC but do not work in the laboratories and cleanroom are
invited to attend, but attendance is not mandatory.

*Please arrive on time!*  If you arrive late, you will not be admitted to
the meeting.

*KUDOS*

"Micro and Nano Particle Manipulation Using Optically Modulated
Electrokinetic Flows," a paper by Stuart J. Williams, Aloke Kumar, and
Steven Wereley, was recently submitted to the ASME 2009 2nd Micro/Nanoscale
Heat & Mass Transfer International Conference held at Shanghai Jiaotong
University in Shanghai, China, on December 18-21, 2009 was selected as one
of 3 "Excellent Papers" from among the 340 papers accepted for presentation
at the conference (see below and attached for the announcement of the
award). The Conference is sponsored by the ASME Heat Transfer Division and
Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU).

*PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS*



Faculty, staff, and students who have fever or other influenza symptoms
should seek medical care. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT TO WORK WHILE ILL.

Birck Nanotechnology Center staff will be notified of an emergency situation
by telephone in the order set out in the BNC’s Phone Tree. BNC faculty
members will receive an e-mail message from Monica Allain or Tim Sands.

Members of the Faculty (Professors and Research Professors) are responsible
for contacting each of their group members, including graduate students,
undergraduate researchers, postdoctoral fellows and research scientists.
Specific instructions should be conveyed by phone if possible. All graduate
students should register for the Purdue University e-mail alert system at
http://news.uns.purdue.edu/mail.html.
