Yingru Song

Yingru Song obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Mechanical Engineering department at Rice University working in the Nanoscale Heat Transfer Laboratory. Dr. Song received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri, Columbia in 2019, where he performed undergraduate research on molecular modeling of low-dimensional materials. His research at Rice focuses on using Monte Carlo ray tracing simulation to study phonon transport in nanostructures, exploring electrical and thermal properties of carbon nanotube fibers, and applying these fibers for electrical heating and photothermoelectric applications. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Purdue University co-advised by Professor Amy Marconnet, Xiulin Ruan. His research focuses on developing multiscale porous materials with nano-additives, thermal management for novel 2.5D IC packaging design and multiscale heat transfer modeling.
