Purdue University
West Lafayette, IN 47907
June 27 and 28, 2005
Current day computing power provides unprecedented capability for simulating highly complex computational problems. Two fundamental areas of interest for many engineering applications are multi-phase flows and reacting flows. Although these two diverse fields share many of the same difficulties there appears to be little overlap between these communities. In an effort to identify the common problems between these two areas and to highlight the challenges involved in advancing both fields, we are hosting an international workshop with all invited speakers from the fields of reacting and multiphase flow simulations.
Presentations will focus on the key attributes (physical modeling, numerical algorithms, code implementation and experimental validation) of either one or both of the subject areas. Our goal for the workshop is to summarize current capabilities, distill key future research directions and to stimulate new partnerships and research approaches.
The workshop will be comprised of about ten half-hour presentations each day with ample time for discussions and interactions. There is a conference banquet planned for Monday (June 27) night. In addition, there will be a tour of the rocket propulsion test facilities at Purdue’s Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories on Tuesday (June 28) afternoon.
The registration fee includes conference participation, conference banquet, breakfast, and lunch. Students are welcome to attend the conference at a reduced rate including breakfast and lunch. They are also welcome to attend the banquet at a reduced rate. Students are requested to register early since the total number of student registrations is limited. Also, there will be no walk-ins available for the day of the banquet.
Final registration deadline is Wednesday, June 22, 2005!
(Please note that registration fees are required for all attendees despite the somewhat ambiguous wording on the registration page.)
