Alvin Ang

Alvin Ang | Chemical Engineering
Partner, Go-to-Market, Turn/River Capital
From Turn/River Capital's first hire to Partner, Alvin Ang has helped shape the firm's journey from a two-person startup in its first fund into a leading software private equity firm with nearly 100 employees and close to $5 billion in assets under management. In the early phase, he played a pivotal role in sourcing, diligence, and deal execution. Over time, his focus shifted into operations, where he helped build the firm's go-to-market practice, designing systems for scalable marketing, sales, and retention.
Alvin's approach is grounded in rigorous experimentation, funnel analytics, and continuous process improvement - principles he traces back to his engineering training at Purdue. There, he learned to break down complex problems into tractable parts, prioritize the highest-leverage actions, and iterate quickly. These habits, first visible in his undergraduate research, classes, and competitions - including leading his team to first place in Purdue's Soy Innovation Competition - now underpin the repeatable growth playbooks he builds across Turn/River's portfolio.
Before private equity, Alvin was a process engineer at Bechtel Oil & Gas and a self-taught coder and entrepreneur, founding a small software and web agency. This combination of technical discipline, entrepreneurial initiative, and operational empathy equips him to partner effectively with founders, product teams, and revenue leaders. Today, he leverages that experience to design durable, capital-efficient growth systems that scale both firm and portfolio performance.
