Christopher Nilsen, a senior in Multidisciplinary Engineering with a concentration in General Engineering, is known for his love of rockets and space! Spencer Tickman, a fellow General Engineering student in MDE, asked Chris a few questions to share with us his story.

Q&A with Christopher Nilsen

Where are you from, Chris?
Riverview, Florida

What made you choose Multidisciplinary Engineering?
Multidisciplinary Engineering chose me, and I am thankful that it did.

Are you involved with any clubs or organizations on campus?
I am the president of Purdue SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space).  I have been grateful to have taken the club from 5 members to over 100 cross-disciplinary students working on technical projects in just a few years.

Have you had any work experience while at Purdue?
I have worked at Zucrow Propulsion where I tested rocket engines for companies.  I take the engine, install it on the stand, and run tests.  We then take the data and give it back the company.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Purdue?
When we had ignition of our rocket engine. We spent 16 months for that 8 seconds of successful testing!
