Chinese Central Television station channel 4 (CCTV4) reported in episodes on Episode 1 on June 21, 2012 and Episode 2 on June 22, 2012 entitled "Qingyan Chen - from Farmer's Child to Scientist" in its special program "Chinese World".

All Tianjin City Television stations in China reported in their evening news on January 2, 2012 that Qingyan Chen to lead a national consortium on airliner cabin environment study and his contributions to the study


Pathogen Transport in an Aircraft Cabin due to Coughing

In preparing the readiness for the H1N1-A influenza, we made an animation file showing that how pathogen could be distributed in a twin-isle aircraft cabin due to coughing from a passenger sitting in the middle seat.

System to Pinpoint Airline Passengers who Contaminate Cabins


After Purdue University released a piece of news about "System to pinpoint airline passengers who contaminate cabins", the news has been reported in international, national and local media. Due to limited resources, we do not have full tracks on TV stations, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, and web sites that have reported this story. Here are some of them when they taped, interviewed, or published the story.

It should be noted that we did not develop the sensors but a mathmatical model that can use the information obtained by a sensor for the identification of contaminant source and strength in an enclosed space, such as an aircraft cabin or a room. The 2007 June issue of journal "Indoor Air" published an article from us that gives some technical information of the model. More results mentioned in the news released will be published in the near future.
