Experimental measurements and computer simulations of airflow in an MD-82 cabin

Passengers and crew are packed in a very limited space in commercial aircraft cabin. The air distribution systems play a very important role for the comfort, health, and safety of passengers and crew. Our study is to conducted quality measurements of air distribution in an MD-82 aircraft cabin and to develop suitable CFD model for such a flow. The aim is to develop advanced air distribution system that can provide optimal thermal comfort and air quality with high energy efficiency of the environmental control systems for future generation of commercial aircraft.
