I completed my PhD in Computer Science at Rice (2014). I got my M.S. in CS (2008) and B.S. in Automation (2006), both from Tsinghua University. I grew up in Chongqing the hilly city.

I care system software for addressing challenges raised by new usage patterns and new hardware architectures. I have been building OS and runtime for programmability, energy efficiency, and performance. The ultimate goal is to back people’s ever-increasing (and sometimes unreasonable) demands for more responsive and cooler computers.

Purdue Is Cool

After moving from Houston to West Lafayette, my wife and I, two ourdoorsy persons, actually have more fun. Purdue has an on-campus golf complex. The town has several mountain bike trails, one of which maintained by Purdue. On my bike commute route there is Celery Bog, a nature area where I often greet many wild ducks and geese. A couple of state and city parks are within 20-minute drive (never had a traffic jam). On some weekends, we drove to Brown County to enjoy a variety of hiking and mountain bike trails.

Check out my photos.
