Welcome to the Webb group site

The Webb group pursues fundamental research at the interface of physics, mathematics and various application domains. Current projects span biophotonics, statistical optics, imaging in scattering media, basic information and communication concepts, optomechanics, nanophotonics, and metamaterials. The group has a history of collaboration over broad fields in the physical sciences and engineering.

Webb is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue, where he has been on the faculty since 1990. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Optical Society of America (OSA). Prior to joining Purdue and following the completion of his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1984, he was on the faculty of the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Chemistry), The University of Melbourne (Physics and Chemistry), the University of Canterbury (Engineering), and the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm (Chemistry). He is an Honorary Professor in the School of Physics at the University of Melbourne.

Webb founded the Purdue Karate Club in 1990 and is the chief instructor.
