Regional Test Standardization

The  North Central Superpave Center is conducting a regional test standardization program on behalf of the North Central Asphalt User Producer Group, on common test methods across the North Central region.  There is tremendous potential for resource optimization and efficiency for all members of the region.  Contractors who work in multiple states will find continuity between state test methods.  The Technician Certification Program can permit easier certification reciprocity.  State and regional research efforts will benefit from common material measurements when analyzing a multi-state database.

The first step in the test standardization program is a round robin for a variety of aggregate and mixture tests.  The North Central Mixture Round Robin currently involves six labs and nine mixtures. A presentation on the Round Robin Study was made at the North Central Hot Mix Asphalt Technical Workshop and Conference in January 2006.

Additional information will be posted as the standardization effort continues.
