How can I include text verbatim?

After your \documentclass command and before your \begin{document} put a

            \usepackage{verbatim}
line.

For verbatim text use

            \bein{verbatim}
            This text will be listed verbatim.
            This text will be listed verbatim.
            \end{verbatim}
or
            \verbatiminput{filename}
to read the text from a filename.

To single space the text put a

            {\renewcommand{\baselinestretch}{1}
command on the line before your \begin{verbatim} or \verbatiminput command and a
            }
line after your \end{verbatim} or \verbatiminput commad.

To get a slightly smaller font do, for example,

            {\makeatletter
            \def\verbatim@font{\small\ttfamily\hyphenchar\font\m@ne\@noligs}
            \makeatother
            \renewcommand{\baselinestretch}{1}
before your \begin{verbatim} or \verbatiminput command and a
            }
line after your \end{verbatim} or \verbatiminput commad.
