Running LaTeX on Your Mac OS X Computer

Installing LaTeX

Do these steps to install LaTeX:
  1. Download MacTeX.mpkg.zip.
  2. Double click on the just downloaded MacTeX.dmg.
  3. Double click on the MacTeX.pkg icon now displayed and install the software.

Running LaTeX

  1. Start TeXShop.app by doing
    1. Click on the background of the desktop.
    2. Do, at menu at top of screen, File => New Finder Window.
    3. Click on ``Applications''.
    4. Double click on ``TeX''.
    5. Double click on ``TeXShop.app''.
  2. Enter these lines in the main part of the window.

\begin{document}
This is page 1.
\newpage
This is page 2.
\newpage
This is page 3.
\end{document}
  1. Do Apple key with 't' key at same time to typeset.
  2. Save as short.tex.
  3. Preview, print, whatever you want to do.
