Short Bio

I am an Associate Professor with the Dept. of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University and the Scientific Director for Big Data Analytics in the Cyber Center (Discovery Park) at Purdue University. I am also the trust leader for (the optimization area) in the CRISP Center at Purdue. Before joining Purdue, I was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, NY, USA. I received the Electrical Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree (both with highest honors) from the University of Rome, “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 2001 and 2005, respectively. I had previously held several research appointments, namely, at University of California at Berkeley; Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong; University of Rome, “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy; and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL, USA.

I co-authored the paper that received the
2015 IEEE Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award
I received the 2015 Anna Maria Molteni for Mathematics and Physics from the ISSNAF
I received the
2013 NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award.
I received the 2013 UB Exceptional Scholars – Young Investigator Award.
I received the best student paper award at IEEE ICASSP 2006.

I served on the
IEEE Signal Processing for Communications and Networking Technical Committee (SPCOM).
I am an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing.
I have been an Associate Editor of IEEE Signal Processing Letters.

My current research interests lie in the broad areas of continuous optimization and equilibrium modeling in large-scale systems and networks, ranging from advanced mathematical formulations and their properties to computation and algorithm analysis, through to applications in the field of signal processing, communications, networking, smart grid, and machine learning.
