Mission Statement

Research in the Ultrafast Optics and Optical Fiber Communications Laboratory focuses on the technology and applications of ultrafast laser pulses on the femtosecond time scale (1 femtosecond = 10-15 seconds). We are particularly active in developing and applying technologies for manipulating and processing femtosecond lightwave signals. Some of our curent projects involve:

  • shaping of entangled photons
  • photon-pair generation in microring resonators
  • nonlocal detection of spectral-phase-shaped biphotons
  • Kerr comb generation in high-Q microresonators
  • microwave and millimeter wave photonics.
