The EM Algorithm

Abstract

In this laboratory, you will use the EM algorithm to estimate the parameters of a Gaussian mixture distribution (i.e. cluster data) and train a hidden Markov model (HMM).

To run this laboratory, you will need:

• Matlab with both the signal and image processing tool boxes.
• An application for displaying TIFF images.
• An ANSI C compiler such as gcc or MS Visual Studio.
