JPEG Image Coding

Abstract

In this lab, we will explore the baseline JPEG coder which is the simplest version of DCT-based sequential coder. Moreover, we will handle 8 bit luminance component only for simplicity.

To run this laboratory, you will need:

• A web browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.
• A free copy of Adobe Acrobat
• Matlab 5 with both the signal and image processing tool boxes.
• An image display tool such as xv.
• An ANSI C compiler.
