Anna-Maria Rivas McGowan

Anna-Maria Rivas McGowan, aerospace technologist, NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia, recently received the Lawrence Sperry Award "for significant contributions to the DARPA / AF / NASA smart wing program, enabling sucessful wind-tunnel demonstrations of the world's two most advanced wings with embedded smart materials." The award is presented for notable contribution made by a young person to the advancement of aeronautics and astronautics.

Ms. McGowan received her B.S. degree from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics in the spring of 1992. The photograh below and the blow up above were taken by Professor Andrisani in Grissom Hall during October, 1991, in the course AAE421.
