Geomatics majors: I have received the following information from NCDOT. Please respond if you are interested in these opportunities.

Dr. Johnson:

I am presently the manager for the NCDOT Photogrammetry Unit. Our offices are located in Raleigh. The unit has 68 permanent positions, including 18 engineering and engineering management positions. We operate a suite of 14 Z/I ImageStation softcopy stereoplotters interfaced to a Z/I scanner and dedicated server with approximately a Terabyte of storage space. We have two LH Systems RC-30 aerial cameras and acquire aerial photography year round. We have a full service photo laboratory as well.

I am also interested in other Purdue Geomatics graduates, either obtaining undergraduate or graduate degrees. Not only are there opportunities in the NCDOT Photogrammetry Unit, but there are also opportunities in the department's Location & Surveys Unit and possibly in the GIS Unit. In particular, the Location and Surveys Unit has field positions across the state, not just in Raleigh.

NCDOT has an Engineering Associate program set up for hiring new graduates with undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering. This is a possible mechanism to hire new graduates immediately after graduation in January and June of each year. If you have any students who might be interested in finding out more, please have them contact me. If you would like for me to write a letter or mail you additional information about NCDOT that could be posted in the Geomatics department, please let me know. If you would like to find out more about NCDOT, please give me a call.

Thank you for your assistance.
