Candies color classification
Colored candies are manufactured and quality is related to color. Thus their color is controlled during production. However, the ellipsoid shape creates shadowing which modifies color distribution. Also specular reflection is present in the center of the candies.The original image is comprised of different colored candies, yellow, green and brown.
The classifier was build with four classes, background, yellow candy, green candy, and brown, and the linear classifier of type II using PurClas.
This example has no particular industrial application. However, it is a favorite for a first contact with color classification applications. A lab objective with colored candy would be to count the number for each color.
