(WLFI) – A group of students at Purdue may be future members of Santa’s workshop.

Around 70 students created eighteen innovative toys as part of their computer-aided design course this semester.

Their creations will be on display Saturday during a “Toy-A-Fair” on Purdue’s campus.

Professor Karthik Ramani said at least three of the toys utilize an iPad this year, including a Zombie Graveyard laser shooting game.

Students said creating the toys was a fun change from some of their other engineering classes, and involved using skills they learned through all four years at Purdue, like Taylor Bankfroff, whose group created a storytelling zombie.

“It’s really neat to see when you actually design something, and then get it printed. How things turn out and how it can differ between what you make and how it turns out and what you need to change it,” said Taylor Bankroff, a Purdue senior.

The Toy-A-Fair is taking place Saturday in room 1130 of the Mechanical Engineering Building’s Gatewood Wing.

Toys will be on display from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Purdue students could have future as toymakers Updated: Friday, 09 Dec 2011, 10:03 PM EST Published : Friday, 09 Dec 2011, 5:19 PM EST WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
