Team 7 | Fall 2011

Our toy is a small octopus that displays locomotion by moving across the floor. Kinetic motion of the toy is a result of a pair of “tentacles” on each side of the octopus rotating in a full circle around two shafts. This rotation is made possible by a motor that powers gears, which are assembled in a particular ratio in order to generate more torque rather than speed. The motor is operated by flipping a small switch located on the back of the toy.
