Cambrian Regional Subdivisions

Correlation of the international subdivisions of the Cambrian System with selected regional stage nomenclatures. South China modified from Peng (2003) and Iberia / Morocco from Geyer & Landing (2004).

Ordovician Regional Subdivisions

Correlation of the international subdivisions of the Ordovician System with selected regional stage nomenclatures.  British and North American stages are from Webby et al. (2004), Australian stages are provided by John Laurie (Geoscience Australia), and Chinese stages provided by Chen Xu.  The British units are not the historical stages/series, but are a revised version (Webby et al., 2004).  The time slices are from Bergstrom and Chen (2007).

(editors), 2004.  The Great Ordovician Biodiversity Event.  Columbia University Press, New York, 496 pp.  [NOTE: In addition to syntheses for most fossil groups, the book has excellent summaries of Ordovician climate, geochemistry and sea-level changes.]

Carboniferous Regional Subdivisions

Correlation of the international subdivisions of the Carboniferous System with selected regional stage and substage nomenclatures.  Stages for Russia, western Europe and North America are modified from Heckel and Clayton (2006), using relative stage and substage lengths from Menning et al. (2006) and from correlation to major cyclothem groupings.  Russian substages are from GTS2004.  China is from Menning et al. (2006), except for Pennsylvanian, which is from Zhang and Zhou (2007; Carb-Perm Congress).
