Such problems involve both model building towards capturing essential behavior of systems, and evolving the theoretical and experimental machinery for the identification of model parameters and phenomenological functions. Their research ideas arise from linear (operator methods) and nonlinear analysis of ordinary and partial differential equations, stochastic processes, and population balance modeling involving integro-partial differential equations. The major thrust is fundamental and inspired generally by key technological issues. Congratulations, Pelin!<\/li>\n<li>Old and current members of the Ramki group met virtually for a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.purdue.edu\/ramkiites\/2020\/11\/11\/surprise-zoom-event-for-prof-ramkrishnas-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">surprise Zoom event<\/a><\/strong> to celebrate Prof. Ramkrishna&#8217;s 82nd birthday.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Group member Sana (Khanum)&#8217;s publication &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/link.aps.org\/doi\/10.1103\/PhysRevFluids.5.094005\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gravity-driven thermoviscous liquid film down a heated or cooled vertical cylinder<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; has been selected by the Phsical Review Fluids editors to be an Editors&#8217; Suggestion. She pursued this work as a Master&#8217;s student with Prof. Naveen Tiwari at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.<\/li>\n<li>Hearty congratulations to Lina (Aboulmouna) for successfully defending her thesis: &#8220;<em>Towards Cybernetic Modeling of Biological Processes in Mammalian Systems\u2014Lipid Metabolism in the Murine Macrophage.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Hearty congratulations to Pelin (Bulutoglu) for winning the 2020 GSO Symposium Poster Award! The title of her poster pitch was &#8220;An atomic level perspective on the mechanism of NaCl nucleation from highly concentrated solutions.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Hearty congratulations to Parul for successfully defending her thesis &#8220;<em>Towards Understanding Neuropathy from Cancer Chemotherapy and Pathophysiology of Pain Sensation: An Engineering Approach.<\/em>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>Group member Parul Verma received the ChE Faculty Lectureship Award. In addition to a certificate and $500 monetary award, she is invited to give a thirty minute seminar talk about her research.
