Current Projects

  1. Go over suggested changes to website layout from Elizabeth with Kristin.
    1. Update research multimedia page
    2. Update various Awards pages
  2. Get new kiosk in new EE lobby up and running
    1. 8/4/17 - Steve is giving me email addresses of AV guys in ITaP who set up the TV and network. Nobody knows who ordered this. Assuming this will be ECE kiosk. 8/15/17 - ECN is ordering mini PC to go behind kiosk. Will be non-interactive rotating kiosk. PC is up and running. Now I'm updating content. 10/26/17 - kiosk is now live. Still haven't heard from Shawn in NUCL on their content.
  3. Create new building maps for Steve now that remodeling is done in EE.
    1. 8/15/17 - starting on this project. 10/16/17 - finished main ones. Waiting on Steve to give me evacuation routes and "you are here" placements.  Maps replaced on EE kiosk and intranet.
  4. Push new webpage templates to research areas.
    1. Got Ragu's ok to revamp pages. He will push faculty if necessary. Content deadline by end of year, soft launch spring break, final launch end of academic year.
    2. Template finished and sent to Kristin for her to sell.
  5. Create new website for PES research area
    1. (working with Steve Pekarek and D. Aliprantis). They wanted to wait until summer to work on. Sent reminder email 5/23/17. Talked to Steve 5/26/17. He's going to get together with D. and get back to me.  6/28/17 - Received email from D. that he will work on it this week and get back to me. 7/17/17 - sent D. another tickler email. He said he won't be able to start on content until second week of August or so.
  6. Create new website for MN research area
    1. Sunil Bhave is new area chair, so I am working with him on it. 5/26/17 - Had been talking to Babak Ziaie, who is no longer chair, so now working with Sunil. Sent him an email with links of lab website templates. Said he will get organized and get back to me after 7/4. 7/17/17 - sent Sunil tickler email. He responded by sending email to everyone in MN and me for feedback and a targeted finish date of mid-October for website. 7/21/17 - Sunil decided to go ahead and start working on the website while we're getting feedback from area members. 8/15/17 - ran into snag - Hilary doesn't want us to use lab template within ECE website - freestanding website only. So trying to sell Sunil on AEE version of research area pages.
  7. Revamp Labs & Facilities webpage. Ragu wants to break it up by research areas (ok to have labs listed under multiple RAs)
  8. Continue to schedule photoshoots of preeminent teams

  9. Work on display case design/placement and kiosk placement in MSEE when main office/development moves over there (need place for NESEPS, teaching award, etc. plaques. Also Birck and Harrison plaques from atrium).
  10. Create flyer for Computer Engineering research area. - 9/21/17 - met with Milind Kulkarni. They don't need it until summer, so no hurry. He sent me a poster.pdf with markups.
  11. Discovered that website history timeline doesn't work on phones (7/11/16). Figure out fix
  12. Fix videos on 2009 Student Welcome page. Don't work on phones.
  13. Research getting WOF prints re-scanned
    1. 5/31/17 - discovered EAPS library has a scanner, but they are closed because they are moving into the Wilmeth ALC this summer. Their current scanner is 38"-39" wide and will scan 200dpi, 400 dpi, or 600 dpi. Terry recommends not doing 600dpi as it takes forever. However when they open on August 7th, they will have a new scanner, which will certainly be better and faster. So it's probably worth it to wait until then. There is no charge for this service. When they open, talk to Nicole Kong at the ALC - per Terry Wade of EAPS library, who is retiring 6/30/17.
  14. Get Brent Jesiek to update content on EI2G page
    1. 3/2/16 - haven't heard from him. 12/13/16 - sent him another email. 5/24/17 - sent another tickler email. Received response that he will update page. Still waiting for him to decide where to put the link. 7/17/17 - sent another tickler email. 
  15. Put Bill Keene on 1963 WOF print
  16. Push new lab web template to faculty
  17. Try to get ECN to create personal website templates for faculty use.
    1. 1/25/16 - this is supposed to get revamped after website templates are launched.
  18. Take photos of EE labs & Duncan annex contruction
    1. Roughly scheduled it for spring break when students aren't here. 3/17 - photos done. Waiting for next phase of construction. 11/15/16: Shooting photos every few weeks. 5/25/17 - Will probably shoot more next week. 6/22/17 - shot more photos. Probably final construction photos until complete.
  19. Take photos of MSEE remodel
    1. 5/25/17 - Will probably shoot next week. 6/8/17 - Shot "before" photos of construction area. 9/25/17 - shot more photos.
  20. Work with Tracy in main office on organizing historical archives
    1. 6/21/17 - trying to load new drivers for scanner so that I can use it. 6/21/17 - started scanning photos.
  21. Rebuild WOF. Put on website and kiosks
    1. 4/21 - starting photos of graduating students. Gathering info to get quote from Hilary. Pharmacy evidently has their alum on a kiosk. Go check it out? - 5/9/14 - finished layout and sent to Hilary for his quote. 6/9 - spent 3 hours with Hilary getting all the steps worked out. Waiting for a quote from ECN. 6/23/14 - got quote from ECN. Forwarded it to Angela Rainwater for Ragu's approval. 7/09/14 - got Ragu's approval. Gave Hilary the goahead for creating the interface. 9/30/14 - Hilary is swamped with other projects, so he's put this down on his priority list right now. 7/8 - talked to Hilary about this again. He's still swamped with the template. 4/25/16 - I have Hilary's promise that this will get launched this summer.... Hilary now promises it will be October. Who the hell knows when it will be now that they fired Chris. 5/24/17: FINALLY!!! Met with Hilary and Josh to get the ball rolling on this project. I created a test folder in the WOF web area so that they can start creating code and testing. 6/5/17: Received email from Josh that he will be working on it this week or next. 7/19/17 - sent Josh and Hilary tickler email. 7/21/17 - received email from Josh that he is now starting to work on this next week. Kristin is now leading this to get Hilary off his butt.
  22. Tweak intranet forms so that they have option to email person submitting the form, acknowledging that they had filled out the form.
    1. In 2014 I asked Hilary if he could make the intranet forms do the same thing. Got blown off for a long time. 5/5/17 - sent Hilary an email asking if this was still in his queue. He said it was, but still nothing has been done about it.
  23. Have Barrett take me down to the dungeon to explore cool old items
    1. 5/24/17 - sent him an email to schedule. 6/7/17 - sent him another email. Scheduled for 6/8/17. 6/8/17 - went into the dungeon with Barrett. A lot of neat things that I think I should show new Comm. Director for various projects. Didn't get to see the area with all the print items, though.
  24. Recreate ECE history video (old one is worn out)
    1. summer 2013 project - 6/13/13 - talked with Andrea about it. She will get back to me. 8/20 - talked to Kim Muldoon about it. She didn't know where it stood. I guess I'm just waiting for an update from somebody. 12/16/13 - emailed Kim who said that Andrea's revamp by alumni didn't happen. May eventually still need recreation of video
  25. Work on identifying all display cases and bulletin boards in EE. Add to intranet spreadsheet by putting in key identifiers and photos of display cases.
    1. now posted on intranet - going to take photos of bulletin boards next
  26. Come up with ideas of items to put in display cases
    1. history timeline poster?
    2. WBAA history & photos?
    3. Advisory Board poster?
    4. In depth description of teaching award winners?
    5. larger version of OECE recipient poster?
    6. large print of unidentified photo (historical stuff)

 

Possible Upcoming Projects

  1. Take Python and database classes to up my abilities to work in Zope. Rely less on ECN.
  2. Eventually create manual for using SiteImprove
  3. Update job description periodically to reflect what work I'm doing.
  4. Occasionally check on ECE wikipedia page and make sure it's accurate
