David Canales
David, born in Sant Fost de Campsentelles, Barcelona, Spain, started his professional career at ''Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya'', Spain, where he studied from 2009 to 2014 a Bsc + MSc in Space Engineering. During his studies, he was able to perform an internship at Cranfield University where he worked with a CubeSat that they were developing for the QB50 network. After graduating, he created his own systems engineering company applied to the restaurant industry, at the same time that he was carrying out research in Astrodynamics with the MAIA department at the University of Barcelona. Afterwards, he got another MSc in Astrophysics, Particle Physics and Gravitation, which not only led him to the opportunity of working for Satlantis LLC in Florida as a space technology engineer for one year and a half, but also to start carrying out research devoted to the high-redshift universe and the observation of low-surface brightness sources. He joined Purdue in the fall of 2018 to pursue a PhD in Astrodynamics and Space Applications. In his free time, David loves to sing and play his Spanish classical guitar, cooking, practicing yoga and other sports like hiking, climbing, etc., and going to restaurants and wine tastings. After graduation, David accepted a job as a professor at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
