Cilic lost to world number two Roger Federer in a thrilling match that went the full five sets.
However, organisers controversially decided to shut the roof on the Rod Laver Arena with temperatures at 37C, which would not normally cause such a decision.
The reason given was because of the humidity but many people in the game have suggested that the closure suited Federer, who excels when playing indoors.
But Cilic has responded by claiming there was no favouritism in the decision but reflected that it did affect his game somewhat.
