Bale came off the bench and hit a double in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win in the Champions League final against Liverpool last Saturday. The Welshman has cut an increasingly frustrated fugure at the Bernabeu in recent weeks. Manchester United are courting his services, and reports have suggested that they are preparing a squad number for him in the event he should make the switch to Old Trafford. Although Bale enjoyed the celebrations on the pitch, the Daily Mail claim he made a beeline for the Liverpool dressing room afterwards.

It is suggested he was desperate to see his friend Adam Lallana, whom he previously played with at Southampton. Added to that, Bale supposedly stood at the back of the bus on Real’s victory parade. Bale hinted after the final he could quit the club if he’s not given assurances over his playing time. He said: “I feel that I need to be playing every week. It's something that I've always wanted to do and it hasn't happened here this season for one reason or another.
