Wimbledon enters Day Three of action with all of the top players given later time slots on court. Roger Federer is second on Centre Court as he takes on Lukas Lacko in his second-round clash. He is followed by Serena Williams’s match with Viktoriya Tomova as the American looks to book her place in the third round. Last year’s losing finalist Marin Cilic is one of the favourites to challenge Federer for the title again and he is last on Court 1 against Guido Pella.

What is the weather forecast? It is set to be another scorching day in south London as the British heat wave continues into its third week. The high for Wednesday is 25 degrees – one degree cooler than Tuesday. However, the main concern is that the BBC report there is a 16 per cent chance of rain between 5pm and 9pm. That would mean there is a strong chance of Federer’s match on Centre Court being effected, along with Williams’.

What is the Heat Rule? The Heat Rule allows a 10-minute break to be taken between the second and third set when the heat stress index is at or above 30.1 degrees Celsius. The heat stress index is a measure which factors together the air temperature, the humidity and the surface temperature and is measured by a heat stress monitor. The heat stress monitor readings are taken 30 minutes prior to the start of play and then at 14.00hrs and 17.00hrs.
