Cristiano Ronaldo was named Portuguese player of the year last night
The Real Madrid star star won the honour after being voted the best player of 2017 by footballers, coaches, fans and a panel led by Luis Figo.
The honour comes a day after Ronaldo scored four goals as Los Blancos beat Girona 6-3.
However, upon receiving the award the Portugal international gave a speech where he claimed he is the best player in the world “because he believes it is true”.
The remark fired a subtle dig at Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who is also considered to be one of the greatest players of all time.
