On Tuesday night, the legendary boxer suggested that he could swap the ring for the Octagon in posts on his Twitter and Instagram pages. The posts in question saw the 40-year-old enter a cage and look menacingly at the camera. Mayweather's video sparked intense speculation that he's seriously considering having a mixed martial arts bout.
And in the early hours of the morning, he dropped another hint suggesting that may very well be the case. The second hint came in the form of another video of him inside a cage. But this time, the former five-weight world champion asked Irish bookmakers Paddy Power what the odds of him appearing in the Octagon are.
2018. Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. MMA. What are the odds, Paddy? Floyd Mayweather
"2018. Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. MMA. What are the odds, Paddy?" he asked while donning a pair of Paddy Power shorts. Mayweather's latest social media posts are no doubt an attempt to spark interest in a rematch between himself and the UFC's poster boy, Conor McGregor. McGregor laughed at the prospect of Mayweather setting foot inside the Octagon on Tuesday night, tweeting: “Hahahaha very good. Keep up the good work my son. Yours sincerely, Senior.”
