Before you bet on the 2018 Super Bowl, you'll want to know to what the "sharps" are picking. They're the guys who make their entire living betting sports. Following their lead is one of the best ways to cash in huge on the big game.
Before the conference title games, SportsLine reported that sharp money was flowing in on both the Jaguars (+9.5) against the Patriots and the Eagles (+3.5) against the Vikings. The result: Both teams covered and the sharps cashed in a big way.
SportsLine has again tapped into its Vegas sources to see what the sharps are backing this week. What it found out: The pros are loving the Over for Patriots-Eagles, sending it from 46.5 to 48.5 at some books.
Pro bettors aren't sold that two top talented defenses colliding necessarily sends the NFL's title game Under the total.
This matchup features two of the three top scoring offenses in the NFL. New England's offense, led by future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, averaged 28.6 points this season. Meanwhile, the Eagles' offense averaged 28.3 and put up 38 points against a stingy Vikings defense in the NFC championship game.
History also favors the Over hitting in games involving the Patriots and Eagles. In fact, the total has gone Over in four of the past five meetings in the series. And the Over has also hit in four of the past five Super Bowls.
But the action could be reversed. SportsLine's Vegas sources report that many of the top sharps are waiting to see if the total gets to 49, 49.5 or even 50. That could entice many to pound the Under.
"There are a lot of sharp guys around town talking about betting some pretty big money, but we haven't heard from them yet," said Chris Andrews, sports book director at the South Point Hotel Casino.
One sports book reports that almost 80 percent of the sharps' action has been on one side of the spread. Which side? You can find out over at SportsLine.
