Phil Mickelson is holding out hope that a weather delay will allow him play in the U.S. Open. But what time does he need to show up at Erin Hills?
Mickelson’s first-round tee time is at 2:20 p.m. CT Thursday with Steve Stricker and Stewart Cink. Mickelson is expected to withdraw before that time. But if the situation arises and he makes an effort to get to the first tee, he must be on the tee when the 2:20 p.m. group is announced. If Mickelson is not on the tee, he would be penalized two strokes. After five minutes, he would be disqualified. If he is disqualified, an alternate would replace him.

That alternate is Roberto Diaz, who gets in the field if Mickelson or one of the other players withdraws.
Diaz has said he’ll get up early and will be at the course at 6:45 ready to go.
Mickelson is planning to attend his daughter Amanda's high school graduation in California, with the ceremony starting at 10 a.m. Pacific Thursday. He has said he'll need at least a four-hour delay to get to Erin Hills.
His longtime caddie, Jim “Bones” Mackay, has been at the course this week.
