SACRAMENTO — The play instantly went viral as Rockets guard James Harden unleashed a 3-pointer on Thursday night against San Antonio after performing a shuffle step.
The tweet instantly went viral as Warriors coach Steve Kerr lamented his frustrations with how the NBA interprets traveling violations.

“I thought it was a direct message,” Kerr said following the Warriors’ morning shootaround before Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. “My new iPhone is killing me.”
Kerr recently purchased the iPhoneX, and he said he has had problems ever since. First, Kerr accidentally recorded an entire dinner conversation with his family that turned into a text message. Second, Kerr responded to Harden’s video clip that was sent to him with a tweet instead of a direct message.
“Oh no,” Kerr recalled thinking when he realized his words turned into 140 characters. So Kerr consulted Warriors player development coach Chris DeMarco, who helped him delete the tweet within 30 seconds.
“What do you think?” Kerr recalled asking DeMarco. “Am I going to get away with it?”
“Hell no,” Kerr recalled DeMarco answering.
Not when Kerr is the Warriors coach. Not when he is lamenting a call against an NBA star on a rival team.
“Fortunately it wasn’t anything too damaging,” Kerr said.
But what did Kerr dislike about Harden’s move?
I didn’t say anything,” Kerr said. “It was a private, direct message that somehow slipped away to the rest of the world.”
And now the rest of the world won’t forget.
“I didn’t have much time to rag on him,” Warriors coach Stephen Curry said. “But that won’t die down in our locker room too quickly.”
But at least Kerr’s phone was not hacked.
“Oh yes, I was,” Kerr said. “Thanks for reminding me. Totally forgot.”
