Newy Scruggs, sports anchor at NBC5 in Dallas-Fort Worth (KXAS-TV) and radio host weekly from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on NBC Sports Radio Sirius XM 213/202 and NBCSportsRadio.com, answered questions during a live chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights:
Question: Is there any lesson for the Mavericks buried in this year's NBA Finals?
Scruggs: Yes -- draft better.
Question: What year is a realistic goal for the Mavs to be back as a real contender?
Scruggs: I can't put a year on what the Mavericks can do until I see what the club does in the NBA draft and free agency.
One player can dramatically change a franchise. Look at Houston getting James Harden, or the LeBron James effect in Miami and Cleveland.
