CLEVELAND, Ohio-- Jeff Green has fans all over "The Land," but a fan in a land over 5,000 miles away may be the biggest of them all.
Gonzalo Matias of Mendoza, Argentina-- a city in the northwest portion of the country-- is a huge Jeff Green fan.
He's so big a fan, in fact, that he wrote a letter detailing his Jeff Green fandom to the NBA's Latin American office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Matias explained that, while his support for Green knows no bounds, his financial situation and physical challenges have proven him unable to purchase his favorite player's jersey.
Upon receiving the letter, the NBA office sent Matias a No. 32 jersey and let the Cavaliers as well as Green know of perhaps his biggest fan.
When Green heard about Matias and his request, he was floored.
"There's a lot of emotions," Green said. "That's what you play the game for, is to inspire, to help people in whatever kind of way you can."
Shortly after learning of Matias, Green recorded a video thanking Matias which will be soon be shown to him in Argentina.
Even days after hearing the story, Green was still in awe that he was the focus of the request from a fan all the way in Argentina.
"It's a great feeling," Green said. "You know the game reaches overseas, but to have guys like 23 (LeBron James), Russell (Westbrook), KD (Kevin Durant), Steph (Stephen Curry), all these guys in the NBA, to have somebody pinpoint Jeff Green from Argentina, it's humbling."
When asked if Matias will make it to Cleveland for a game, Green wasn't quite sure.
He was sure, however, that Matias is would be more than welcome at The Q.
"If he does come, it'll be great to meet him," Green said. "I'd (love) to give him some more Jeff Green memorabilia."
