The Falcons had to endure one of the most annoying offseasons in the history of the NFL after their blown 28-3 lead in last year’s Super Bowl. Now owner Arthur Blank admits he took exception to Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s decision to put 283 diamonds in their Super Bowl rings.
According Darren Rovell at ESPN, Blank spoke with Kraft about his decision to take a shot at Atlanta.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank to the @nytimes: “I said to (Pats owner) Robert (Kraft), ‘You didn’t have to do the 28-3 in the ring. It kind of pissed me off.” https://t.co/ff51KW4rqe — Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) February 2, 2018
It seems petty from a franchise with such an unmatched level of success over the past 17 seasons to do something like this. It’s not shocking that Blank, who has done a great deal for the city of Atlanta, would stick up for his franchise.
The Patriots take on the Eagles in the Super Bowl this Sunday, looking to with their sixth championship with the duo of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick. Meanwhile, Philly ended Atlanta’s season a few weeks ago in a last-second heartbreaker.
