Giancarlo Stanton broke the Marlins’ single-season home run record when he blasted his 43rd homer of the season in the first inning of Monday night’s game against Giants at Marlins Park.
Gary Sheffield hit 42 when he played for the Marlins in 1996.

The one that broke Sheffield’s Marlins record was a two-run shot off San Francisco lefty Ty Blach.
Stanton has homered in four straight games and has nine dingers this month. He leads MLB in home runs and his 43 are eight more than the player in second place, Yankees rookie Aaron Judge.
