James Charles

James received his Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2013. There he worked on NEGF simulations of quantum point contacts along with his senior project using the rate equation model for Coulomb Blockade effects in spin valves. He joined the Klimeck group in the Summer of 2013 to pursue his PhD.

1. Improve and Stabilize algorithms needed for massively parallel quantum transport simulations in the NEGF framework

   • General Resonance Mesh in NEMO5

2. Investigation and implementation of relevant incoherent scattering mechanisms into NEMO5 for realistic modeling of next-generation devices

   • Acoustic and Optical Electron-Phonon Scattering in NEMO5
   • Implicit Surface Roughness in NEMO5
   • Bulk Mobility extraction from NEGF + scattering in NEMO5
