Introduction:
In addition to the standard ECE477 course experience, opportunities exist for students within ECE477 to
participate in various national and international competitions using their ECE477 senior design projects.
Competitions give students opportunities for cash prizes, prestige, and travel to exotic destinations. A few
competitions ECE477 students have historically participated in are described below; students interested in
additional opportunities should contact
course staff.
The Cornell Cup Competition:
The Incredible HUD, an ECE477 team which received honorable mention in the 2012 Cornell Cup Competition.
Cornell Cup USA is a college-level embedded design competition sponsored by Intel which began in 2012. The
competition seeks students who develop innovative embedded technology applications, particularly those utilizing
Intel products and technology. The competition is held at the beginning of the summer each year at Walt Disney
World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fl, and offers students the opportunity to win up to $10,000. For additional

The Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition:
Play-It-Safe, a 2012 team of ECE477 students and entrepreneurship students that took third place in the Burton Morgan Business Plan Competition
The Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition is a long-running entrepreneurship competition, held locally at
Purdue's West Lafayette, IN campus. The competition involves teams of undergraduate students, graduate students,
and staff who have developed business plans. The competition is held in February each year, with $100,000 available
