Project Overview:

Hazardous Environment Remotely Operated (HERO) bot is a robotic system consisting of a mechanical arm mounted on a rover that will mimic the user's arm movements. Additionally, the rover will warn the user when is close to fall off an edge. Finally, the rover will also be able to trace back automatically to its original position at any time. The rover will be controlled through radio frequency using an analog joystick where battery level and warning indicators will be placed.

Project Specific Success Criteria:

  1. An ability to mimic the movements of the user's arm using the coordinates obtained from a leap sensor.
  2. An ability to track its surroundings in order to avoid falling from edges using ultrasound sensors.
  3. An ability to maneuver the rover with a joystick using RF.
  4. An ability to trace the rover's path back to its initial position using the stored path in memory
  5. An ability to report the battery level to the user with a Bar LED meter
