RainSultan (12:38:49 PM): Louis, you arround?
Auto Response from LaCjr 7 7 (12:39:02 PM): lower ya brakelights, were in the stock market of wonder
LaCjr 7 7 (12:40:08 PM): yeah
RainSultan (12:40:29 PM): Hey bud, it's adam at purdue. YOu guys ordered parts yet?
RainSultan (12:41:39 PM): We got a few changes.. we found some available accelerometers that will work.
Previous message was not received by lacjr77 because of error: user is not available
LaCjr 7 7 (12:42:06 PM): I have signed on.
LaCjr 7 7 (12:42:21 PM): hey
LaCjr 7 7 (12:42:30 PM): sorry, my aim was frozen
RainSultan (12:42:34 PM): no problem
RainSultan (12:42:37 PM): you guys ordered your parts yet?
LaCjr 7 7 (12:42:49 PM): we are meeting today to confirm
LaCjr 7 7 (12:43:06 PM): but apparently we need to decide on accelerometers now
RainSultan (12:43:08 PM): ok, got a few things to pass along to you guys when you meet
RainSultan (12:43:14 PM): we found workable accelerometers
LaCjr 7 7 (12:43:18 PM): oko
RainSultan (12:43:19 PM): let me get you links
LaCjr 7 7 (12:43:23 PM): thanks
RainSultan (12:43:31 PM): https://engineering.purdue.edu/477grp2/documentation.html
RainSultan (12:44:04 PM): they are both made by freescale, you need 2 x-axis and 1 z-axis accel per "point"
RainSultan (12:44:36 PM): so we're planning on using 3 single axis accelerometers per point.. they are cheap.. arround 6 bucks each
LaCjr 7 7 (12:44:46 PM): how many points
RainSultan (12:44:48 PM): We're planning on using 3 "points" for the helmet
LaCjr 7 7 (12:45:00 PM): ok so 9 accelerometers
RainSultan (12:45:21 PM): we figure it like this... it takes 3 points to form a plane and accurately measure rotation/acceleration
RainSultan (12:45:39 PM): we also want to use a slightly diff micro.. the PIC18F45K20
RainSultan (12:45:52 PM): its a brand new pic, uses a lot less power, but is quite beefier
RainSultan (12:46:04 PM): it also has more ATD channels to accomodate the 9 accelerometers
LaCjr 7 7 (12:46:11 PM): too big?
RainSultan (12:46:20 PM): no, same footprint as the pic16
LaCjr 7 7 (12:46:26 PM): ok
LaCjr 7 7 (12:46:37 PM): so thats the exact pic
RainSultan (12:46:40 PM): it can be clocked between 4Mhz to 64Mhz
RainSultan (12:46:43 PM): yessir
LaCjr 7 7 (12:47:02 PM): and you guys are still getting the WIFI correct?
RainSultan (12:47:12 PM): yeah, its on that link I sent you
LaCjr 7 7 (12:47:19 PM): yes i got it
RainSultan (12:47:32 PM): only parts we don't have picked out are the exact ssd stuff
RainSultan (12:47:48 PM): taken way to long to find the damn accelerometers yesterdat
RainSultan (12:47:58 PM): took*
LaCjr 7 7 (12:48:13 PM): yeah i heard the old ones were absolete
RainSultan (12:48:59 PM): we have a bit more leeway on parts ordering deadline that you guys, so we'll wait for you guys to order first then we'll order.. to make sure we get the same parts
RainSultan (12:49:26 PM): but we do need to order by friday to ensure they are here before we do pcb layouts
LaCjr 7 7 (12:49:32 PM): ok so we will order the accelerometers, the pic, and the wifi today
RainSultan (12:50:32 PM): let me grab the power supply regulator we found last night. We haven't looked into it too much, so not sure if its ideal...
RainSultan (12:50:32 PM): http://www.linear.com/pc/productDetail.jsp?navId=H0,C1,C1003,C1039,C1133,P1904#descriptionSection
RainSultan (12:51:20 PM): there are a bunch of small IC parts we'll need that we havn't figured out yet. I'm still not sure how the power charge/suply circuit goes together..
RainSultan (12:52:21 PM): but I'm fairly sure the charge controller and fuel gauge we picked out will work.. again havn't looked into it too much
RainSultan (12:53:03 PM): is that something you guys could look into?
LaCjr 7 7 (12:53:17 PM): yes
LaCjr 7 7 (12:53:46 PM): we have an EE on our team thats going to focus on the actual circuit
RainSultan (12:53:59 PM): cool, we're all ECEs
LaCjr 7 7 (12:54:47 PM): for now we wanted to focus on the PIC programming i believe
RainSultan (12:55:26 PM): I think we start software stuff in just over a week. We're still playing catchup with the rest of our class. So we're swamped until the weekend.
LaCjr 7 7 (12:56:04 PM): ok, well i will relay this info to our team today
RainSultan (12:56:31 PM): awsome. if we're not on AIM later, shoot us an email with any updates., we'll do the same
LaCjr 7 7 (12:56:38 PM): you got it
LaCjr 7 7 (12:56:51 PM): ill talk to you later
RainSultan (12:57:00 PM): later, bud
