CEM Information Portal

CEM offers more than a construction engineering degree.

If you intend to make CEM your professional program of choice, we’ve made the admission application process easy with the steps outlined below.

Let's get started on your application into Construction Engineering and Management.

You can access the CEM application through our online application portal. We've outlined what to expect below. Please contact us with any questions about the application.

Complete and Submit Information

Submit your application at any point in time during the school year. For FYE students, you may submit any time after December 1.

Internship priority placement is provided to those who have their application submitted by the third week of January.

Establish an Interview Time

Establish an interview time when you submit your application.

Interviews will be held the first full week following the priority placement submission deadline. You will be able to sign up for an interview time through BoilerConnect—choose ENGR Professional School Inqry or ENGR Transition to Major (T2M).

The purpose of the interview is to:

  • Assess the applicant’s academic performance to date (2.5 minimum EAI required)

  • Allow the applicant the opportunity to speak with the Director of Internships

  • Allow the applicant the opportunity to speak with a current student

  • Assess the applicant’s passion for the industry

  • Assess the type of work, location and company culture that will best suit the applicant

Letter of Acceptance or Denial

After completion of the interview, the applicant will receive a letter of acceptance or denial regarding their submitted application.

Denials

Denied applicants are encouraged to reapply based on improvements suggested in the feedback provided with the denial letter.

Acceptance

Accepted applicants will be required to attend the following events after acceptance:

  • CEM Meet and Greet event with our current students. To be held on the third Thursday of February. This event is held so that you can familiarize yourself with the program’s upperclassmen and celebrate your acceptance into CEM.

  • New Student Orientation held the week prior to the Beta Tau Internship Banquet. During orientation, you will be updated on internship placement progress and prepare for fall registration.

  • OSHA 10 Safety Training held online the last week of March. Once accepted into the program, you will receive a link to the online training, which will provide you with safety certification and help prepare you for your first summer internship.

  • Beta Tau Internship Banquet to be hosted by Beta Tau (the Honorary Fraternity of Construction Engineering and Management) the first Tuesday of April. This event is an opportunity for you to help the Division celebrate our senior class and their achievements. In addition, it will provide you with an opportunity to network with one of your sponsor company representatives, which may help prepare you for your first summer internship.

  • Beta Tau Survival Night to take place in early April. This “Survival Night” will prepare you for your first summer internship in regards to project dos and don’ts, what to wear, how to act, how to find housing, etc.
