John Frantz began his career with Sidney Electric as a Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) intern in 1977. The CEM program was brand new to Purdue and he became one of the first students to transfer into the program. In 1979 after graduating in a class of only two students from the CEM program, Frantz joined Sidney Electric as a project manager and estimator. Through the years he has worked mostly in the Ohio and Indiana area, In 1992, Frantz and his business partner purchased the company; in 1996 he purchased the remaining shares and became the sole owner, Along with his responsibilities as President of Sidney Electric, Frantz has been deeply involved with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), which represents electrical contractors across the United States and Canada serving on various committees and task forces. Currently, Frantz serves as the Co-Chair of the Development and Engagement committee for Electric, an organization that researches current and future trends and technologies affecting the construction industry.
In 2016, Frantz was awarded the NECA Coggeshall National Award for outstanding contribution to the progress of the industry in the Technical and Training Service Field. In 2011, Frantz was inducted as a Fellow into the Academy of Electrical Contracting and recognized for contributions to the electrical contracting industry through leadership and exceptional service. Frantz has served as a Trustee for more than 40 years representing various IBEW-NECA pension, annuity, and health care plans covering his employees and others in the industry. John’s leadership extends beyond his company responsibilities to serve and support several local organizations and charities. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Miami Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is a Trustee for the Lehman Catholic High School Foundation.
