Vinayak is a PhD candidate in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He is pursuing his dissertation research at the C Design Lab since Spring 2011. His research involves the design, development, and evaluation of spatial (mid-air) user interfaces and interactions for 3D shape conceptualization. Using depth sensors, he has developed and evaluated computational frameworks that use hand gestures and arm motions to create, modify and manipulate 3D shapes in virtual space. Currently, he is working on geometric algorithms to determine human expression of design intent from hand grasp and finger movements for shape deformation.
